Lane’s Baseball News

UNDEFEATED A HEARNS!!! Well, today was the last game of the season. It’s going to be a little different not having to worry about T-ball or anything like that. I’m already kind of missing it. Oh well, I’m sure there will be more, and if there isn’t, then that’s fine too. I already have some good memories of Lane’s first attempt at sports away from the house. Here’s how the game today went. We played York’s team again and the game didn't start out very well for us defensively. We were in the field first and couldn’t seem to get any of their players out. We had a lot of errors. Luckily our bats picked up the slack. By the time the game was over, we scored 17 runs and they scored 14 runs. We got them out 6 times and they got 3 outs on us. Lane had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. He also scored 2 runs. Both of his hits were home runs. He was the last batter again and they didn't even try to get him out except at first, which they didn’t do since he had 2 hits. I know that these may really not be true home runs, but hey, that’s what the stat guy has down in the record books. LOL. Defensively, Lane had the chance to make a couple of plays and kind of booted the ball once without making a clean stop, and the other time he just stood there as the ball went by. I guess in his defense, it was hot. After the game, Lane and Jacob G. went and ran around through the water sprinklers that they had turned on to water the field. I think that Lane had fun playing ball and may have made a couple of friends along the way. I think it was good experience for him and warm up for myself and Crissy on what is to come in the future. Heaven help us with time utilization

We were supposed to have a game Monday 5/31/2010 but it was cancelled because of the holiday. So we ended up only having 2 games this week instead of 3. Anyway, here is how today’s game with DeShazo went. It was a very close game today. It was a good thing that we had the last a bat and they didn't try to get the last batter out as he ran around the bases, because if they would have tried to get him out, we would have at best tied the game and maybe lost. We scored 12 runs and they scored 11 runs. We got them out 9 times and they got us out 1 time. Lane had 2 hits and one home run. Jacob had 2 home runs and Tre also had a home run. Lane had 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs. Lane also made one defensive play. A close game indeed, but another win for A Hearns.

Well we finally got to play DeShazo’s team today. Cindy from the dental office has her son Gavin playing on this team. I asked Crissy if there was any intraoffice betting going and she laughed and said no. Anyway, the stats that I compiled are as follows. We scored 18 runs and they scored 12 runs. We got them out 5 times and they got us out 4 times. They’re coach was overheard making a comment about that this was not a track meet. He said that in response to Trey running their players down and tagging them out. Ha ha too bad. Lane had 2 hit WITH A HOME RUN. Granted there were about 3 errors on the play, but in the eyes of his dad and another dad, a home run anyway. Lane had 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs. Lane also had the chance to make a defensive play but couldn’t stop the ball. Oh well, it was still another victory for A Hearns.

Today we played La Vega T1 and had a very good outing. I guess you could even say that we beat their rears. I can’t use any other terms or Lane tell me that we don’t use that word. Anyway, here are the stats for the game today. We scored 29 runs, yes I said 29 runs, and they scored 9 runs. Yes I said 9 runs. It was a very one sided game. We got them out 22 times and they got us out 11 times. Lane got 3 hits, and had 3 RBIs. The kids played very well. Yet another victory for A Hearns.

Sorry, but I can’t remember which date this game was played on. We had two games that week but one of them was cancelled. Anyway, they must have started the game somewhat early because we were just a little late and missed an entire half of an inning, which happened to be our at bat because we batted first. Wait, I remeber the date now. It was Tuesday 5/4/2010, ha ha what a memory. Anyway, the stats that I have are incomplete, but with the number of runs we had, I can’t help but to think that we won the game. I have us as having scored 10 runs and them as having scored 13 runs. The reason I believe that we won is because with my limited stats, we scored 10 runs with one at bat, while they scored 13 runs with two at bats. I find it very hard to believe that we didn’t score AT LEAST 3 runs in our first at bat. To continue, the rest of the stats that I have are that we got them out 4 times and they got us out 4 times. Lane got one hit, had one RBI, scored one run, and made one good defensive play. As far as I’m concerned, that’s another win for A Hearns.

Here are the stats for today’s game. We scored 18 runs and they scored 12 runs. We got their players out 18 times and they got our players out 7 times. Lane had 2 hits and got out twice. Both outs were made running to home because he was the last batter and the pitcher was waiting on him in the baseline. The last batter just keeps running all the way around the bases. This gives Lane the chance to do what he wants to do, and that is slide into home plate so he can get dirty. LOL. This was another victory for A Hearns.

Another round of T-Ball, another well played game. I have been told that the reason we did’t play DeShazo’s team Tuesday, was that Mr. York and Mr. DeShazo traded a day. So if this is true, then the last week of the season we will play DeShazo’s team twice. I don’t know why I’m even bothering to report on this because it really doesn’t make any difference to the kids who we play. They just want to play some ball. Anyway, here are the stats I've compiled for this game. We scored 28 runs and they scored 9. We got their players out 12 times and they got us out 5 times. And yes, this time Lane was one of those outs. The only difference with this game compared to last time we played at LaVega’s field, was that even though the kids got out, they could still stay on the bases and run. So in other words, the last time we played at LaVega the umpire counted outs and this time he didn’t. But I digress, Lane got 2 hits, scored 3 runs, and had 4 RBIs. And like I said before, he got out once in this game. This is the first time a team has gotten him out. Also something of note, one of the kids on our team, Owen, had 3 homeruns and another kid, Tre, had 2 homeruns. It was another fine outing for the guys. I guess the only thing I have left to say is, “Hello Win Column” and “Viva La A Hearns”!

Lane had another T-Ball game today. This made his 3rd game now. We were supposed to play DeShazo’s team. This might have made for conversation at the dentist office because Cindy’s son plays on DeShazo’s team. A little interoffice rivalry maybe? Instead we played York’s team again. We started out a little slow, but by the time we got into the field, we were back to form. We batted first in this game. Here is how the stats run down as I compiled them (yes I’ve turned into one of THOSE sports parents that keep stats on how the team performed and if they won or not. it’s supposed to be “non”competitive michael). Anyway, here’s how the stats go. We scored 20 runs and they scored 17. We got their players out 17 times with one double play. And no, Lane was not involved ha ha. They got us out 5 times. Lane got 2 hits and scored 2 runs. I honestly don’t know if he had any RBIs or not because I was watching him run. He did almost get out once though, but the Billman wheels sped him down the base path to first and second. I know everyone is a winner in these games, and this T-Ball league is “non”competitive at least at Lakeview’s field, but by looking at these stats I would have to say that we won again. “Hello Win Column” and “Viva La A Hearns”!

Lane had his second T-Ball game Friday, and I do believe that Lane’s team kicked their butts. For a while we were not sure that either team would have enough people to play. Then we had enough to play and the La Vega team didn’t. Then the La Vega team had three kids show up and we were under way. We were supposed to start at 6 pm, but it was somewhere around 6:10 to 6:15 before we got started. We had time to play three innings, well, we got to bat three complete times and they didn’t because we got them out three times in the third inning and the game was over. “Hello win column!” to use a famous phrase. Lane got three hits, although for some reason he isn’t hitting the ball as hard as he was at first. I don’t know if he was just tired from school or what, but he did get three hits. He also made a couple of plays at shortstop as well as missed a few. Oh well, you can’t catch them all. They play again Tuesday at 6 pm and Thursday at 6 pm as well. Don’t ask me what their record is because this is supposed to be non-competitive which means that you don’t really keep score, but I’ll bet everyone a Dr. Pepper that there are parents in the stands, myself as included, that are keeping score.
